The Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) require that the chassis of all HGV, PSV's and Coaches are cleaned to a high standard prior to testing.
Power Washing directly on to a Disc Brake Caliper should be avoided, but inevitably it will still happen, and can result in the ingress of water & alkaline detergents entering the Guide Pin Bore. Fleet Parts have developed the following product enhancements in order to combat this situation, and prolong the life of the Caliper.
GUIDE PINS
To prolong the life of the Guide Pins, they have been treated with a process that greatly enhances the corrosion resistance properties of these components, whilst also imparting other beneficial properties such as wear resistance, yield strength and bearing characteristics.
Photograph 2 was taken of the treated Guide Pin (black appearance), and an Original Guide Pin after 24 HOURS into a Salt Spray Test in accordance with ASTM.B117-11. The protection rating of the process used is up to 600 HOURS.
